The San Juan Bautista School of Medicine and the Latino Student Medical Association continue their tradition in organizing the 5th Interdisciplinary Research Virtual Symposium to integrate multiple academic levels, disciplines, and institutions to discuss research findings in the clinical, basic, and behavioral sciences.
The symposium will be virtual during the afternoon of Thursday, February 25th, 2021, starting at 2:30pm with scientific video presentations followed by a panel of experts discussing the topic “Stress: Neurophysiology, Recognition, and Management.”
We are pleased to invite students and faculty to submit an abstract of their research proposal or findings together with a video presentation. The due date for submission is January 31st, 2021, and you will receive an answer by February 12th.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) is hosting a virtual symposium on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 12:00–6:00 p.m. ET on the impact of COVID-19 among minority communities. The Advancing the Response to COVID-19: Sharing Promising Programs and Practices for Racial and Ethnic Minority Communities virtual symposium will feature promising practices, programs, and strategies for combatting the pandemic in order to achieve health equity in communities of color.
OMH invites partners at the regional, state, tribal and community levels to join them as they convene public health leaders from state and local levels to discuss their organizations’ response to address COVID-19 in racial and ethnic minority and American Indian and Alaska Native populations.

The Clinical Education Task Force (CETF) was asked by the ASAHP Board of Directors to share information on clinical education during the pandemic. The consensus of the CETF was to create a series of web-based discussions to hear the issues and to share what is working for you and learn what others are doing. COURSE DESCRIPTION
• This new course uses distance learning, leveraging the Blackboard platform, includes didactic and experiential learning activities and personalized individual assistance to guide the investigator in the preparation of a R-level grant application.
• Researchers will develop skills for developing clear, effective, and fundable grants, including the key components of NIH and NSF proposals.
• Participants will proceed through the course at their own pace, but with a maximum time of 20 weeks for course completion.
• At the completion of the course, participants will have constructed the major components of a grant proposal for submission to NIH or another funding source.
